Friday Virtue #2: Mindfully drunk

We’ve made it through to another Friday, congratulations! Here’s a quote to chew on over the weekend:

“The miracle is not to walk on water. The miracle is to walk on the green earth, dwelling deeply in the present moment and feeling truly alive.”

~Thich Nhat Hanh

It really is a miracle sometimes to be somewhat present in the moment. I strive to bring this kind of mentality into my life. Now more than ever, I truly need it.

Tomorrow I’m going to a ‘Zazen’ meditation in the morning here in Japan, followed by a ‘Shojin’ lunch. Shojin cuisine is Japanese traditional vegan cuisine originated from Zen monks. You might think I’ll be spending the day in a meditation pose with little birds perching on my head. Well, you’d be wrong because I’m going to a craft beer festival straight after. I suspect I’ll be quite drunk before it even gets dark. Is there such a thing as being mindfully drunk? I’ll let you know if there is!

Happy Friday all, have a nice weekend.
